There are a number of complex steps required to give the Cornwall its special planed look. This process also creates a slightly raised area in the middle of each board that can be felt with your hand, but which is only apparent to the eye when seen against the light. Despite the heavy brushing, the surface feels velvety soft. The final surface finish comprising an oil-wax emulsion creates slightly brighter areas at the right Points.
